Glossary

is a fund managed for the benefit of a community which makes money available to finance activities for local people. These activities could potentially range from leisure activities to training or the development and maintenance of community assets, such as parks or community centres. A community chest could be created from a range of funding sources: donations from local businesses, contributions from local residents or endowments from the local authority or other parties. In the case of a new communities funding may also be endowed by developers building new housing in an area.
